Agency of the Future: A Client's Perspective

The Agency Next Speaker Series is focused on examining innovative ways to compete and is designed to stimulate thinking among current and future agency and marketing leaders. We will be kicking off the speaker series this fall with two sessions, Agency of the Future: A Client's Perspective on October 31st and Agency of the Future: Procurement's Perspective on December 10th.

Agency of the Future: A Client's Perspective features an outstanding lineup of veteran marketers who will present their visions of the future from their industries perspective, what it will take to survive in the changing marketplace and most importantly what they will be expecting from their agency partners.

After the individual presentations there will be a panel discussion moderated by Gareth Kay who will further probe the presenters on how their envisioned future will affect agencies and their relationships with their clients. Following the panel discussion there will be a short Q&A.

Join us as we look to the near future in order to answer the questions we are asking ourselves today.




ANDREW ZIMAKAS, Chief Marketing Officer, ING DIRECT Canada

As CMO at ING DIRECT, Andrew Zimakas is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Marketing for the organization (including Customer Insights, Digital, Corporate Communications, Creative Services and the Café retail network). Prior to joining ING DIRECT, Andrew was Partner at LEVEL 5 Strategy Group, a boutique strategy consultancy in Toronto, focused on helping clients grow their business by leveraging the power of their brands.

He has over 22 years of experience in a range of industry sectors, including senior positions at Procter & Gamble, Microsoft, and AOL/Time Warner. Andrew is a member of the Branding and Strategic Planning Council of the Canadian Marketing Association (CMA), a Fellow of the Canadian Royal Geographical Society (RCGS), and sits on the Board of Governors for Junior Achievement of Central Ontario (JACO).

HOPE BAGOZZI, Director of National Marketing, McDonald's Restaurants of Canada

Hope Bagozzi began her career as an executive search consultant working both abroad and in Toronto. Changing careers, Hope moved into advertising and spent four years at Padulo Integrated leading The Bay business. In 2004 she joined McDonald's Canada as the Director of Creative and Media where she leads all national advertising, merchandising and media.

Hope and her team are proud to develop work that is moving both the Brand and business, including growth in guest counts, sales and market share. Recent awards include Marketing Magazine Marketer of the year in 2012, Best in Show at the 2013 Marketing Awards, and four Cannes Lions in 2013 for the internationally-lauded transparency program: 'Our Food. Your Questions'.

COLIN BETTAM, Chief Marketing Officer, Kobo

Colin is the Chief Marketing Officer at Kobo, and is responsible for building and expanding the Kobo brand internationally through comprehensive strategies across multiple disciplines, including marketing, brand and advertising, public relations, events, sponsorship, and corporate social responsibility.

He brings to Kobo over 20 years of strategic marketing expertise and a proven track record of success across a breadth of industries including Consumer Packaged Goods, Foodservice, Brewing, Advertising, Media and Technology with Tier 1 brands such as Coors Light, AT&T, XM Satellite Radio and McCain Foods.

LINDA CRONIN, Vice President Integrated Marketing, Coca-Cola Canada

Linda has worked throughout the Coca-Cola system. Her past experience includes connection planning, social media, events and promotions, market asset management, national sales and shopper marketing. During a hiatus from Coca-Cola she worked at the International Humanitarian Agency CARE. At CARE she was responsible for global rebranding of the organization to the current I Am Powerful positioning and developed a comprehensive Integrated Marketing department.

As the Vice President of Integrated Marketing for Coca-Cola Canada, Linda's team is responsible for the gathering and ‘actioning’ human insights that lead to consumer/shopper strategies; connecting Coca-Cola Company brands in relevant ways with our consumers through owned, earned, shared and paid media and acquiring marketing assets that are strategically linked to consumer passions and business priorities. She also currently sits on the Board of Sponsorship Marketing Council of Canada.

STEVE SILVERSTONE, EVP Marketing, Boston Pizza

Steve began his career at Procter & Gamble. Following P&G, Steve worked for Pepsi-Cola Canada, where he lead the re-positioning of 7UP. He then spent eight years at Labatt Breweries of Canada in leadership roles on almost all of their brands as well as two years leading long-range strategic planning. Prior to joining Boston Pizza, he spent three years at Cossette Communications.

Since joining Boston Pizza as Executive Vice President, Marketing in February 2009, Steve and his team have contributed to achieving twelve consecutive quarters of Same Store Sales Growth and he was awarded Strategy Magazines, Marketer of the Year, in 2011.

GARETH KAY, Chief Strategy Officer, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners

Gareth began his career in the UK and worked at TBWA, dfgw and Lowe. Prior to joining GSP, Gareth was the head of planning at Modernista!, where he introduced and built the planning discipline and oversaw the strategic direction of all accounts, including Cadillac, HUMMER, Napster and (RED).

Gareth leads GSP’s diverse group of 50 strategists and is charged with evolving the strategy discipline to help make it more likely that we make stuff people care about. He keeps himself honest by leading strategy on the Google, xfinity and Cisco accounts.
